A Mermaid in the Family

Holly has been saving up her money for quite a while now to be able to buy this mermaid tail.  She had a friend who had one and she decided that she needed one as well.  I was a little hesitant about how it would be, but it looks and works great! Holly can't wait to try it out in a big pool where she will have room to swim rather than just soak in the tub. What a cute mermaid!

April Date Night

The thought for April's date night was go-cart racing, but we decided that we weren't really up for that so instead we went to the new bowling alley that just opened in Riverton.  It has been a long time since I really bowled--not just helped the kids bowl.  It was fun, but, man, am I rusty! We had a great time! I love spending time with my best friend!

Leatherby's

Going to Leatherby's was a special treat when I was growing up--one that didn't happen all that often.  In junior high and high school it was the popular place for cast parties.  I have to say I was involved in many ice cream fights outside Leatherby's.  Not only does it have great ice cream, it holds a lot of memories for me.  So, the other day, simply because I had a coupon that was expiring and the kids were off track, we decided to head over to Leatherby's for lunch and, of course, ice cream.  We picked up Jeremy from work on his lunch break so everyone but Dalton was there.  I'll have to take him sometime during the summer when everyone else is in school and he is out.

Jackson is not a huge fan of ice cream (how is that possible?) but he enjoyed the chicken fingers and French fries.  I had forgotten how much I like their fry sauce!  The real treat, though, is the ice cream.  We got two sundaes and Jeremy and I shared and the girls shared.  I'm not sure either one of us actually finished!  So yummy!  It was a fun, little excursion and the kids thought it was great! (so did I!)

Happy Birthday, Dad!

 Happy Birthday to the best DAD ever! Jeremy loves the kids so much and is always willing to spend time with the kids, whether it is helping with homework, playing sports out in the backyard, helping with projects or just rough housing and tickling.  We all adore him!  How lucky we are to have such a great man in our lives! We love you, Jeremy!  Happy Birthday!

Adult Immunizations

I went in to the doctor for a normal well check up this morning as part of Jeremy's work insurance program.  Jeremy went in last week and when I asked what they would be doing he said it was mostly taking family medical history and checking eyes, ears, blood pressure, heart rate, etc. -- just the normal stuff.  So, I went in blissfully unaware.  When I got back to see the nurse practitioner one of the first things she did was bring out my immunization record which, sadly, was mostly blank.  She asked me if I had had any immunizations in the last 10 years.  Nope!  I figure I must have had them before I left for my mission but that was almost 20 years ago.  So, after informing me that they were 100% covered by our insurance, she smiled at me and asked me if I wanted to take care of them today.  Really?  Who wants to volunteer to be poked four times.  I guess in my mind I had always thought of immunizations as things you do when you are little and then they are taken care of.   But, being an adult, I couldn't say no and take my chances like I wanted to, I sucked it up and smiled back at the nurse and said, yes, of course . . . I was hoping you would stick me with four needles today--or something like that.
She informed me that someone would come in at the end of my appointment to take care of them.  That means that I spent the rest of my appointment dreading what was coming.  When my appointment was done the nurse came in with four needles--T-DAP, MMR, Hep A and Hep B.  After waiting what seemed like forever for her to get the band aids open and ready, she cleaned my arm, pinched my skin and then counted down for the poke. However, after the poke--which I definitely felt--she informed me, with surprise in her voice, that my skin was stronger than she thought and the needle did not pierce the skin.  So, we got to do it four more times and after the first try she stabbed a little harder!
So, now I am home, having taken my Tylenol as the nurse suggested, rubbing my shoulders so they don't get too stiff and sore tomorrow, and sipping my hot chocolate which I feel I definitely deserve after being grown up and not crying or swearing when I voluntarily got poked five times--for my own good!  And lucky me, two of the shots were just the first in a series so I get to go back in a month and then in six months to do it again.

Happy Birthday, Allison!

Since Ally's birthday party was set for April 11th (daddy's birthday) we decided to do something special on her actual birthday. I took the girls to see the new Cinderella movie.  We don't often go to newly released movies because they are so expensive and we have our great theater setup in the basement. We usually wait until movies come out on video and then buy them.  So, this was a fun treat!  The girls loved the movie as did I.  It was fun to spend some time with just the girls!  I can't believe my Ally is 9 years old!
